Jeff Mann is an interdisciplinary artist with a focus on sculpture and media art. During his time at Struts he will be producing a series of short films made in collaboration with artist Emiliano Sepulveda. The films, produced by Mann, documenting a series of transmissions from a distant planet, investigate themes of hope and courage in the Anthropocene, while also exploring ideas of belonging, identity, and connectedness to the land.
All of the films are recorded on Super 8 film and will be developed with handmade eco-processing chemicals – made primarily from plants and relatively low-harm over-the-counter substances. During his stay he will primarily be experimenting with different developing, tinting, and animation techniques, as well as editing and drafting the films.
Ease on Down the Road is a residency for regional emerging artists to produce a media art project using the centre’s equipment and technical resources. For information on how to apply, visit our submissions page.
