Sound-based music uses sounds, rather than notes, chords, rhythms, etc., as the basic material for creating musical compositions. In this presentation, Jeff will introduce some of his sound-based electroacoustic compositions and share his perspectives on sound-based music.

Jeffrey Martin is a composer and music educator currently living in Sackville, New Brunswick. His output includes electroacoustic works for fixed digital medium, music for live performance and film soundtracks, as well as collaborations with choreographers and visual artists. He has taught at Mount Allison University, The China Conservatory, Nanyang Technological University, and Yew Chung International School of Shanghai and has published numerous articles on music education.
